Military and Veterans
Darren always supports our troops. He has been a steady vote for the National Defense Authorization Act and U.S. Department of Defense funding over the years. He has voted for higher wages and better equipment, housing, and healthcare for our service members. He has also visited our troops abroad in Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Qatar, and Korea. He is honored to nominate dozens of incredible young leaders to our U.S. Service Academies. He will continue to stand up for military families across our country.
Darren is a strong advocate for local veterans. He is proud to have the Lake Nona VA and Kissimmee VA Clinic in his district. He has fought to expand mental health, cardiology, and a secure women’s clinic at the VA Hospital. He also proudly voted for the PACT Act to ensure veterans exposed to toxic burn pits get the care they need, and the Blue Water Navy Vietnam Veterans Act that closed loopholes to ensure in-service coverage for Vietnam War Navy veterans.
His office has resolved thousands of constituent cases for veterans over the years, securing millions of dollars in earned benefits.
As the son of a Navy veteran, his dad, Lou, went to college on the GI Bill and bought their first home with a VA Loan. So he knows how critical these programs are for military and veteran families.
