Today is a big day for me.

Today is a big day for me.

Today is the last day of the legislative session where I've had the privilege of representing the 14th district in the Florida Senate. It’s a bittersweet moment, but I’m proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish together. Here are a few highlights from this year’s session:

Best of all, we defeated a deeply flawed fracking bill to protect our air and water from toxic emissions. In Congress, I’ll fight every day to ban fracking on our public lands and hold corporate polluters accountable.

We secured over $12 million in funding to build community colleges in our district, which will go a long way to growing our local economy, attracting employers, and providing training and opportunity for the people of Central Florida. We're also bringing $4 million back for Osceola County school construction and $10 million to create a sensor manufacturing facility, which will bring high paying jobs to Central Florida. In Congress, I’m going to fight for investments in our community colleges and workforce training programs to prepare Floridians for good-paying jobs.

We passed a sensible medical marijuana bill, which will allow nearly 200,000 terminally ill Floridians to access the remedies they need. In Congress, I’ll defend the right of states to reform their marijuana laws without federal intervention.

I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished together and I can’t wait to take our fight to Congress.

Let’s keep it up, Team Soto!
